From the WM & his brethren, fraternal birthday wishes to W.Bro J.Lockett who celebrates his 80th Birthday today, lucky man because he doesn't look a day over 60! John is a much apprieciated active member of Sanctuary Lodge, his dedicated support and charitable ways are an example to us all.

This evening our lodge meeting at Sanctuary had a rather special event. This event prompted our visiting Grand Lodge officer (W.Bro Dr C G Barnes PGStwd PJGD) to state that it was ‘probably a first’. Our member Bro L C George pictured centre in this photo has been a member of Sanctuary for 20 years, he joined us in March 1990. Originally Leroy became a mason in the USA. Specifically, the Damascus Lodge No. 643 who meet at Toledo, Ohio. His masonry is now in its 59 year having joined in 1951. Only now has he received his Grand Lodge Certificate from the United Grand Lodge of England. It seemed appropriate for our VGO to present the Certificate to him in open Lodge on his official visit. The presentation of the Grand Lodge Certificate is the case for all mason’s albeit this one rather late but owing to its circumstances a poignant moment none the less. Every meeting Leroy attends, he faithfully gives greetings from his mother lodge which seems to remind us all that masonry is indeed worldwide. It is quite a pleasure for us at Sanctuary to have a member with international status who is both respected and well liked. Long may it continue…

Peter and Tristian DenmanWednesday September 22nd 2010.
The installation ceremony at Sanctuary Lodge launched the new Masonic year in which W.Bro Peter Denman would once more preside over the Masters Chair. This ceremony was rare because he was installed by his son, Tristan Denman. Seldom will a son install their father into the chair of King Solomon so those who attended witnessed an event which may not be repeated for many years. The lodge was fortunate in having many distinguished provincial guests in attendance, a fact enlightened by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master W.Bro M. Eglinton, PSGD.

Tristan was installed as Worshipful Master in September 2009 by his father this incidentally, was the second year running where a father had installed his son as master at Sanctuary. Tristan’s year saw enactments, lectures and social events which have helped to maintain the friendly atmosphere at Sanctuary Lodge, something that is sure to prevail this coming year with W.Bro Peter Denman in the chair.
